Rocket over L.A.

On December 22nd 2017 citizens of L.A. got scared when they suddenly saw an unknown bright object in the sky.

A few people were aware of this event and prepared themselves to capture it from a good viewpoint.

It was actually the launch of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. The rocket had 10 Iridium satellites on board, which were all successfully deployed in orbit as part of the Iridium® NEXT satellite constellation network. Originally intended for satellite telephony, the new Iridium generation can now also listen to the transmission of every aircraft in the world, giving a 100% picture of the realtime location of every airplane on the planet. Additionally it has the ability to monitor all ships in realtime, giving a 100% picture of every ship in the ocean. The SpaceX Iridium webcast shows the full launch and satellite deployment and explains the details of the “hosted payload” (at 9:00 min).

Elon Musk has done an amazing job, building rockets from scratch with his SpaceX team. These are extracts of an office tour he conducted in 2010.

Machining the rocket engines in house, Elon Musk said in 2010 that “…next year we will make more rocket engines than any country in the world”.

Magic on the way

When U2 announced their new album “Songs Of Experience”, the rock song “You’re the best thing about me” immediately got popular.

Kygo even converted it into a dance song.

But there is magic on the way! Now that the full album has been released, the track “Love Is All We Have Left” is available on streaming platforms. It is pure magic! Looking forward to the music video soon.

Amazing Power

Thank you so much to everyone for your amazing support during the Spinnin’ Records Remix Contest for the KSHMR & Hardwell song “Power”. This was my submission to the contest:

When I submitted my remix, it started off at position 792 of 875 remixes but thanks to your amazing support, it finally reached position 151 out of 999 remixes!!!

It makes me very proud to have such a great support and it also makes me happy that some people like my music. This was actually me first public remix project. I’m already preparing the next remix. Even though the contest is closed, you can keep on listening to it on Soundcloud.

This is the original song of Hardwell & KSHMR.

Troy

Even as a German native speaker it’s sometimes difficult to understand lyrics: The song “Monica Bellucci” from the German rapper Renato Simunovic alias “RIN” immediately caught my attention because of the excellent beat and the very cool vocal effect, using very decent pitch correction. More than 18 million Spotify streams are already confirming the high potential of this song.

The first text line I understood clearly in the lyrics was “Nokia 8210”, which reminds of forgotten times.

The person behind the excellent beat is actually Alexis Papadimitriou alias Alexis Troy, a German producer. He is producing music for various projects, from commercials to songs for hip hop artists. This teaser for one of his songs contains great drone shots.

This is the full song “Sirens” – excellent filtered drum set and synth atmosphere!

Reflection

“Reflekt” is a music project of Jean Sebastian Fontaine & Julian Ashley Peake – they entered music business with a nice #14 UK Single Charts position for their debut single “Need To Feel Loved” in 2005. In 2010 Adam K from Toronto, Canada has released a super cool remix of this song; especially the first minute of his remix is amazing.

Even on a home keyboard this song sounds great – excellent strings at 3:23 min.

A super cool instrumental version of this song was created by the Youtuber Dasuud in Fruityloops (now renamed to FL Studio after a trademark issue with the Kellogg company). Music meets cerial. 🙂

Beyond the sun

“Sun in your eyes” from Above & Beyond – a song and a photo as if it was made for this blog. 🙂 Sit back and enjoy the sound atmosphere!

A “different” kind of cover version was created by the Youtuber “New Saga” with the little Korg Volca Keys Analog Loop synth – great job!

Poetry music

The German actress Julia Engelmann is familiar with the stage: With experience in theatre performances and a TV soap she became famous with poetry slam.
She took a line of the Reckoning Song “One day Baybe, we’ll be old…” by Asif Avidan,…

…which is even more popular in the Wankelmut Remix,…

… and created her own poem around these lines. The recording of her performance at a university campus made her famous on Youtube with more than 10 million views.

Another poem of her is “Grüner wird’s nicht”,…

…which she now turned into a song with a beautiful meaning. A very cool combination of poetry and music.

Redefinition

After his serious accident in 2016, Paul Van Dyk is now back. In a cooperation he has created a stunning piano atmosphere in his latest song “While you were gone”. The first minute of this song is awesome with the sustained piano improvisation and the soft bass arpeggiator rumbling in the background!

The man at the piano is actually Vincent Corver, a concert pianist from The Hague, Holland. From this classical piano concert it’s not obvious that he will appear in trance music as well.

But bringing both of these completely different worlds together, a new kind of art is created. Vincent describes that his art is about “Redefining Piano Music” – and indeed it is! Check out the original Spotify version because it keeps up the piano magic much longer, for almost 3 minutes.
