Speechless

…  (Speechless)
Well, the video doesn’t really make me speechless but the latest song “Speechless” from Robin Schulz   has a beautiful and catchy verse melody. Just the synth-brass in the refrain doesn’t really fit into this well-engineered song.

The saxophonist Juozas Kuraitis recorded a great cover of this song, the saxophone is even adding more energy to the song. Unfortunately the synth-brass part is still included.

Trampoline

Enjoy my work for the Splice remix contest of the Shaed song “Trampoline”. Loved the beautiful vocals and the whistle of this song. Do you recognize the building of the cover image? It’s the new “Elbphilharmonie” in Hamburg. The shape of the rooftop reminded me of a huge trampoline.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! It is the time for family, tradition and Christmas carols. It’s also the time for my tradition to produce a remix of a Christmas carol. This year I selected the carol “Maria durch ein’ Dornwald ging” (“Maria walks amid the thorns” or “Mary walked through a wood of thorn”). It has a beautiful melody from the year 1850, which inspired me for a remix. Thank you for all your support in 2018! Enjoy!

Overdose

Enjoy my work for the Wavo remix contest of the Agnez Mo feat. Chris Brown song “Overdose”. It was an honor to work with these vocals. It’s a completely different music style this time, in which I tried to emphasized the chilly atmosphere of the song.

Thousand tattoos

The rapper Sido from my home town Berlin is mainly in my memory because of his silver face mask, not really because of his music. He is older now, has a family and has removed his signature face mask. His latest song “Tausend Tattoos” immediately caught my attention due to the very melodic refrain and the super cool pitched sample “For You” which is used allover the song. Great work, love this song! Great combination of a chilly beat and melodic chords. The pitched sample approach could be his new signature: Now a musical signature, rather than a face mask – I would love it.

Be Alright

Music has no limits. Dean Lewis is a singer and songwriter from Sydney, Australia but his music goes around the world and inspires us. In his singing it can be heard that Liam Gallagher from Oasis was his inspiration. The mix of a melancholic and relaxed atmosphere in his song “Be Alright” is so beautiful. Also an excellent shot of the sun glancing through the windows at 2:10 min in the video, so beautiful.

It inspired the Colombian DJ “TREVY” for an excellent dance remix. This one is ready to be played in the radio.

It inspired Kyle Hanagami from Los Angeles for a beautiful time lapse choreography…

…same as the people from DanceOn in Los Angeles, with a stunning solo choreography at 1:39 min.

It also inspired the people from Viva Dance Studios in South Korea for a beautiful choreography.

Dean Lewis initially got popular with his song “Waves”. It has a similar melancholic atmosphere and a beautiful refrain melody. I would LOVE to make a dance remix of this one.

My Love

Enjoy my work for remix of the Breathe Carolina & Robert Falcon song “My Love” for a Spinnin’ Records remix contest. I didn’t like the original vocal verse melody so I removed it and replaced it with a 303 arpeggiated bass line. Also I emphasized the pads so that the song gets a chilly atmosphere.

303 never dies

The title track of an old James Bond movie crossed my way: “Die Another Day” by Madonna. Even though this song was produced in 2002, its sound still has a very strong dark pressure and is perfectly engineered for a motion picture soundtrack. I just love the strong cutoff-/resonance-filtered 303 sound, which begins at 0:30 min and even has several solo parts throughout the track. It is a major foreground element of this track, like something uncatchable, excellent for this purpose. Madonna produced this song together with Mirwais Ahmadzai, he used strong filtered 303 sounds in his other music as well.

I recently used the 303 sound for my remix of The Him “Nothing On Us” as well, but by far not as sophisticated as Mirwais. The 303 sound was developed in 1981, but it never dies.
